Genevieve Dozier is a small town girl from Moyock, NC who grew up where you see her sitting below on the railroad tracks that border her parent's lot where a trailer sits. She came from humble beginnings, but never lacked determination. Her parents instilled in her, because she would become a first gen college graduate, to graduate high school, then college, then secure a career, then get married and then have a family. Which is what she did.
Her childhood was not easy. In a town of 2000 she was bullied, sexually assaulted by a family member, and moved several times which at one point she had no home of her own having to stay with family.
Yet her dreams remained and her perseverance was relentless. She graduated 5th in her high school class and was accepted early entry into a private women's college (which she's still paying loans on today). While in college she studied abroad one summer in Paris for fashion design learning from designers and working fashion week at the runway shows. She decided not to pursue fashion as a career and had a job offer before college graduation to a prestigious leadership program at the 10th largest bank in the country after three rounds of interviews spanning 6 months. She graduated in 4 years with a Bachelors Degree with a double major in Business and Fashion Design. She married three weeks after college graduation to her high school sweetheart and three weeks later started her job.
Genevieve worked so hard. She kept her head down and people noticed and she was fast tracked promoted twice within her first 8 years to executive leadership. She had her son in 2010 (four years after starting at the bank) and her daughter in 2012. She began to face many adversities as a woman, mother and person in the workplace and struggled with how to overcome.
She became part of a women's organization that provided her with mentorship, guidance, and support. These women are true allies. Participating in this organization as well as reading several good books increased Genevieve's confidence to stand her ground, own her worth and to be authentic in every interaction.
Genevieve currently resides in her hometown area at the Outer Banks in Grandy, NC. Her children, Tucker and Camilla are so important to her along with her husband since 2006, John as well as her parents and father in law. Genevieve loves the beach, rock music and tattoos!
Genevieve Dozier is Founder & CEO of Warpaint Consulting; inspired by her upcoming book: My Makeup is My Warpaint - How to Stand Your Ground and Succeed in the War of Being a Woman in Business.
"After 16 years in the industry on the edge of 17, I decided to add an additional direction. My passion has always been helping others and for the first 10 years of my career it was helping businesses with Merchant Services. As I say in my upcoming book, "Reflection is key to learning" and as I made the biggest change in my career in 2016, I reflected on who I was, what I wanted to do, and where I wanted to be. I realized I had also been a mentor and leader helping others personally and professionally as well as driving business strategy. This ignited my journey for the last 6 years to be an advocate, influencer and change agent for people within the financial services & payments industry as well as the next generation."
